Quaker nougat recipe 

Yields: 4 to 6 servings

Preparation time: 1 hour and 20 minutes (Plus 3 or 4 hours of refrigeration)

Ingredients for the oatmeal nougat recipe

  • 6 tablespoons of instant rolled oats (oat flakes)
  • 2 tablespoons of bitter cocoa powder 
  • 3 tablespoons of pastry dulce de leche
  • 50 g of butter at room temperature
  • 1 pack of water cookie 
  • Chocolate coating

How to make Quaker nougat step by step

  1. In a bowl, mix the oats, cocoa powder, dulce de leche, and butter . Mix well with your hand until you have a very thick paste.
  2. Arrange the water crackers at the base of the dish or mold , then spread the oatmeal paste over the top and top with another layer of crackers. Ideally, there should be two or three layers, with the last layer being crackers . Refrigerate for at least 1 hour to allow the paste to harden.
  3. Melt the chocolate coating in a double boiler or in the microwave (in 30-second intervals), taking care not to burn the chocolate.
  4. Unmold onto a board or rack and coat the Quaker nougat with the chocolate coating, spreading the edges so that everything is covered.
  5. Place in the refrigerator for 3 or 4 hours to cool completely and the Quaker nougat is ready to eat!

My mom taught me how to make it without dulce de leche. In a small pot, I'd put 100 ml of milk over low heat, melt the butter, then add the cocoa first and then the oats (the oats absorb some of the liquid from the mixture). Let it sit for a while, then make the cookies, which go straight into the fridge. It's less caloric but just as delicious. Cheers.

Hi, this is my first time writing. I made these and they turned out delicious. Is there a thinner cookie so I can make more layers? I've "stolen" a lot of recipes; I love what you make! Thanks! This recipe is the easiest and makes 6 or 7 individual nougats! I also tried the yogurt cake and it was a hit. I made it as muffins with a chocolate heart (I had some leftover nougat topping ;))

My mom used to make it in the old Siam ice cube trays in the 1960s, covered with parchment paper and with vanilla wafers—no dulce de leche, just the mixture of butter, Quacker, and chocolate. She called them "Masita Helada," and they were a favorite of my childhood. Especially licking the parchment paper when there was nothing left.
