Some features about the cooking process

BBQ ribs are often prepared through a low, slow cooking process that can take several hours . This allows the meat to tenderize and absorb the flavors of the sauce. BBQ sauce is a crucial element in this preparation, and there are many variations of this sauce, which can be sweet, spicy, or a combination of both.

Smoking is another distinctive aspect of this recipe. Some cooks use hickory, walnut, or apple wood to give the ribs a distinctive smoky flavor . The smoking process adds an additional touch of depth and complexity to the flavor.

What cut is used for BBQ ribs?

The most commonly used cut of pork for BBQ ribs is known as "baby back ribs ." They are obtained from the upper part of the pig, in the loin region, near the spine. They are characterized by being shorter and more tender, making them ideal for grilling and achieving juicy and flavorful results.

Baby back ribs are so named because of their smaller size compared to other rib cuts, making them similar to a "baby" rib . They have less meat compared to another popular cut, St. Louis-style pork ribs, but their tender meat and flavor make them a popular choice.

Baby back ribs are characterized by their marbling of fat and lean, tender meat . When cooked properly, they fall off the bone easily and are infused with the flavor of the BBQ sauce, making them a delicious and appetizing dish.
