Dear Hippie Gentlemen:
Given the pressing situation of neglect that this website is suffering, I have decided to publish one of my favorite dishes when it comes to hippie dishes: hamburgers and other vegetarian recipes .
I've made some vegetarian oat burgers , very tasty, nutritious, and crunchy. I ask you to please stay with this website, which is as much yours as it is mine.
I hope you can understand that, in addition to being an omnivore, in winter I like to eat heavy ingredients like cream, stews...
Even though my children don't have indigenous names, even though I've never set foot in San Marcos Sierra, even though you see me closer to the farm than to the chakra, know that my heart is with you.
And starting in spring, I will enthusiastically resume making cold soups and salads.
Sincerely,
Paulina
about these oat, walnut, and tomato burgers
When making veggie burgers with oats or any other ingredient that changes with the addition of liquid, it's important to let the mixture rest in the refrigerator for at least half an hour.
It's also very important to add the liquid slowly and make sure the mixture isn't too wet before placing it in the refrigerator. This is because the oats absorb liquid as they sit, otherwise they'll become too mushy.
It's also important not to make the oat burgers too thick or too thin: if they're too thick, they may end up too moist inside; if they're thin, they may end up dry.
As for the taste of these veggie burgers with oats, I can tell you they're delicious! The walnut-turmeric-tomato combination is brilliant. The nuts add a crunchy surprise when you eat them, which I particularly love. Let me know when you try them!
Ingredients
for about 6 medium hamburgers
- 1 cup of oatmeal
- 1 garlic clove
- 1/2 onion
- 1/2 Cdita. of turmeric
- 1 tomato
- 4 dry tomatoes
- 6 walnuts
- 1/2 tbsp sunflower seeds (optional)
- 1 CDA. of chopped parsley
- 2 tbsp. of breadcrumbs
- 1 CDA. sesame seeds
- salt and pepper
Recipe for vegetarian oat, walnut, and tomato burgers
friendly omnivores
1. Place the oat flakes in a bowl along with the finely chopped onion and garlic, turmeric, chopped parsley, sundried tomatoes, fresh tomatoes, finely chopped walnuts, salt, pumpkin seeds, and pepper. Mix well. This first mix is important because some of the liquid will be the liquid released by the tomato.
2. Once everything is well mixed, add half a glass of room temperature water in small streams. It's important to do this slowly so as not to overdo it.
3. When the oats look moist but not too moist, i.e., barely damp, cover the mixture with plastic wrap or a tea towel and refrigerate for at least half an hour. It's important not to skip this step, as the oats will absorb some of the liquid and swell during this time.
4. Remove the mixture from the refrigerator and form your vegetarian oat burgers: first, form a ball, flatten it well with your hand until it resembles a burger, and smooth out the edges, always compacting well so that it doesn't fall apart.
5. Mix the two tablespoons of breadcrumbs with the sesame seeds.
6. Dip each veggie burger into the sesame and breadcrumb mixture: it's a quick dip; don't press too hard or overcoat them, just pat them down on each side. This breadcrumb step can be skipped, but I prefer it because they're very crispy.
7. Cook the veggie oat burgers in a pan with a drizzle of oil over medium heat. Turn them over until golden brown on both sides. Ready! Eat with burger buns, rice, salad, or whatever you like.
