Sushi Balls recipe

Yield: 14 sushi balls

Preparation time: 2 hours (approx.)

Ingredients

  • 1 cup of rice for sushi or double rice Carolina
  • 1 cup of water
  • 4 tablespoons of rice vinegar (if they don't get it, white vinegar or alcohol vinegar can be used)
  • 2 tablespoons of sugar (if they use rice vinegar) or 3 if they use other vinegars. 
  • 1 pinch of salt

To decorate and fill

  • 1 mango
  • 1 or 2 Nori algae sheets
  • 1 piece of pink salmon fillet in small pieces
  • 1 avocado
  • 2 onions of green (the green part)
  • 1 cucumber
  • 2 or 3 shrimp
  • Philadelphia cheese
  • Soy sauce to serve

How to do Sushi Balls step by step

  1. Put 1 cup of rice on a strainer and wash it until the water is clean. Let it stand 30 minutes on the strainer to drain. 
  2. Take the rice to a saucepan with 1 cup of water and stir it once with wooden spoon. Take it to the fire until it boils and then lower over low heat and cook for 13 minutes. After the time turning off the heat, place the lid and leave it 10 more minutes resting. 
  3. Meanwhile place 4 tablespoons of rice vinegar with 2 tablespoons of sugar and a pinch of salt. Stir until dissolved. 
  4. Place the rice in a wide bowl and sprinkle with the vinegar dressing. With a spoon to separate and fan it at the same time.
  5. Place a sheet of film on the table and have a bowl with water to get wet your fingers. 
  6. Spread a tablespoon of rice with your hands on the film and in the center place a mango piece, if they will fill it. Wrap with the film and roll as if it were a caramel, until the ball is formed. 
  7. To decorate and fill out the ingredients with the Nori algae and the rice, and shape them with the film so that they are compacted well. Enjoy with soy sauce.
