In this program ... a different and very original recipe, today we learn how to germinate lentils, and a technique that will help us germinate other seeds and get outbreaks! Paulina does not stop surprising us and today comes with this new video of germinated, a super healthy meal and although it is done in several days since we must wait for the seeds to germinate, it is a very easy recipe to prepare.
This preparation carries few ingredients and then the lentil outbreaks last several days in the refrigerator, thus being available to decorate and make our salads , rice , or any food we want to cheer up with our sprouts more nutritious.
In addition, this technique can use it to germinate other types of seeds, grains, or legumes of choice (wheat, chickpeas, etc. Although Paulina has made the video with lentils, the same procedure can be applied to obtain sprouts from other seeds .
As I always tell you, I hope you are encouraged to try it. I am sure you will love it!
See you in the next video.
Kind regards

Ingredients
To germinate lentils
- 1 big bottle
- Water
- A handful of lentils
- A pair of gauze (the first aidaplet)
- Thread or gum to hold the gauze to the jar
How to make step by step
In this case lentil outbreaks
- I place a handful of lentils in a large bottle. Two things are very important: on the one hand do not pass with the lentils, since when the seeds grow up and we do not want all to be crushed inside the bottle. I put approximately 3-4 tablespoons of lentils. On the other hand, the bottle must be large for the same reason: so that they do not crush and have space to germinate.
- Cover the lentils or seeds that we have selected with water. Approximately covering 1/3 of the bottle (a little less than half).
- Place a gauze lid. For this, we put the gauze on the bottle of the bottle and with a thread or a gum of we adjust around. The idea is that the seeds are "breathing" so that they can germinate , that is why we use a gauze lid and do not cover it with the original lid of the bottle. Leave resting in a warm and preferably dark place for 24 hours .
- They will see that the lentils are already a little more chubby, so now we are going to remove the water. For this we will rinse them first: without removing the gauze we empty and fill the water from the bottle a couple of times. Then we are going to accommodate the bottle in a position from 45º down, that is to say inclined so that the lentils are drying and the water falls. They can look at the video as I accommodated it in a small bowl. We leave resting 24 more hours.
- On day number 3 we will surely see that some lentil seeds begin to show their first outbreaks . The task of this day is very easy: we simply rinse the lentils (filling and emptying the bottle with water 2 or 3 times, always without removing the gauze). We filled the bottle with water as we did the first day and let it rest again 24hs.
- On day 4 the outbreaks should be seen more, and so it will be successively: 1 day with water, 1 day to 45º dry. It took 7 days, ending the last day with the bottle at 45º to be ducks.
These sprouts of lentils and other germinated seeds last about 1 month in the refrigerator and are very good with any salad, hamburgers, cheeses, and with almost all meals. It is also a food with a lot of energy and a very high nutrient level, ideal for any diet!
What are germinated lentils?
The germinated lentils are lentils that have soaked in water and have left the sun until they germinate. When the outbreaks have between three and six days, they can eat raw or cooked. Chickpeas (or chickpeas), alfalfa and Mungo beans are other types of legumes that you can germinate. However, not all beans and legumes are ideal for germinating, and the process is complicated for some. The germinated red beans, for example, are not suitable for eating raw.
Benefits of consuming germinated lentils
First, you know well! They have an earthy and slightly spicy flavor that combines well with fresh vegetables, tomatoes and herbs. You can eat them raw, which adds a pleasant crunch to the plate, or scald them for a minute to soften their texture and flavor.
When germinating lentils or other legumes, their digestion is facilitated and its nutritional content is increased, especially vitamins B and C. As all vegans know with little budget, dry beans and lentils are some of the cheapest basic foods in the kitchen and should constitute the backbone of the diet. They are full of fiber and fill you quickly.
Can I germinate all different lentils?
Yes. All varieties/lentil colors can be germinated, provided that the lentil is whole, not starting. The first time I tried germinate lentils, I bought by mistake split lentils, and no matter how much I tried to germinate them, they barely developed some outbreak. Therefore, make sure the label says "whole."
In addition, make sure the lentils are fresh, ideally less than four months, and that they have not been in a hot warehouse for months.
I loved the recipe. Thank you!!!!!
