aprovechology course I'm taking, the teacher once again attacked the inconsistencies of wild capitalism by proposing a debate on pumpkin seeds .
Because it turns out we buy a pumpkin or squash, throw away , eat the pumpkin… and then buy pumpkin seeds again at the local Hippie Store.
By the way, they are much more expensive per kilo than the pumpkin itself.
How can it be that we have fallen for such an obvious, vile trick of the consumer society ?
Are we finally letting ourselves be defeated?
Because planned obsolescence, come and go. If my printer is designed to last 40 days, it's very difficult for me to extend its use if I'm not a computer scientist. But this... this is my responsibility. Mine and all of ours, comrades. We're making it very easy for them. Because it's true, capitalism always has an ace up its sleeve, but, comrades, this doesn't mean we have to let ourselves be beaten by a double pair .
The teacher says that the material conditions are in place for us to begin this small revolutionary .
Here I give you, fist raised, the recipe that will end this farce .
Ingredients
It comes out to about half a jar
- Seeds of 1 pumpkin
- 1/4 vegetable stock cube
- 1 splash of olive oil
7 options for flavoring pumpkin seeds
- Mustard : add 1/2 tsp. of mustard
- Pizza : add 1 tsp. marinade for pizza
- Garlic : add 1/2 tsp. of paprika and 1/2 clove of minced garlic or garlic powder.
- Ginger : Add 1/2 tsp. of powdered ginger or 1 slice of grated fresh ginger.
- Spicy : Add a pinch of paprika or chopped fresh chili. Or both!
- Curry : add 1/2 tsp. of mild curry.
- Sweet and sour : add 1/2 tsp. of sugar.
How to take advantage of pumpkin seeds (snack)
they are super healthy
1) Remove the pumpkin seeds , rinse them under running water, and remove any remaining pumpkin threads. Remove excess water with a cloth or paper towel.
mixture in a bowl by mixing all the ingredients until it forms a paste (stock, oil, and flavoring of your choice). Add the seeds to the bowl and mix everything well.
3) Sauté the seeds in a hot , empty pan. Stir them around with a wooden spoon. When they're golden brown, remove them.
4) They can be stored in a tightly sealed … if they arrive.
how to use them
In a green salad
As a snack, to accompany an aperitif or beer.
They are also much healthier than other stomach tricks, making them ideal for food plugging (the art of feeding healthy food to your children).
If you're one of the Hippie Gentlemen —there were several in the class—you should carry a small bag in your backpack, in case hunger strikes and all you find is processed food.
If you're Paulina, none of this will be useful, because you'll run out of seeds while cooking the pumpkin. Always. Even if you sterilize a jar to store them.

Hello Paulina, should the vegetable stock cube be crushed or dissolved in water? Thank you.
Do you eat the whole seed or just the tender part inside?
Having a pumpkin plant, well, two, and harvesting two pumpkins a week, I was filled with seeds and didn't know what to do with them, other than save a couple for next season and replant. I found you while searching for recipes. I don't have a kitchen, but I do have an oven, so I'll try this method. Without the broth because I haven't used or bought it in years. Everything is natural at home. Thanks.
You are a genius! I love your recipes and I follow them all!
Are they eaten like this, with the shell and all?
Hello! I was searching for a recipe to use up pumpkin seeds and came across this fun and witty post! Thanks for sharing!
Cheers!
I'm going to make them now, thanks for another one of your recipes.
I did something wrong... maybe I didn't know how to measure the "drizzle" of oil, or something happened with the broth, or with the sugar (for sweet and sour), or the pan wasn't of good quality... but I made a paste that thickened and started to burn (and stick to the pan) before the seeds were cooked.
Can you make it with any pumpkin seed? I've been trying with two varieties and it just doesn't work. Maybe I'm just really bad.
Hi Pau, I made the delicious toasted seeds and my daughters are asking for more!
Hi, I'm Mr. Capitalist... the pumpkin threads are sticking together and won't come out... what do I do?
I used to throw away the seeds and I always said to myself, “What a fool you are, you throw away the seeds and when you go to the health food store and want to buy them, you don’t buy them!!!” So I didn’t make them or allow myself to buy them because I was stupid, now I save them and eat them… today for example I made a grated summer cheese for pasta with pumpkin seeds, salt and seasonings?
Hello!!!! Can I make them in the oven??
Hi Paulina, I love your recipes and I follow you because you always inspire me! Ask about this recipe... can the anco pumpkin seeds also be made like these squash ones?
Excellent way to eat flavored seeds and super easy to make!
I loved the text. Now, just with step 1. It's logical that they charge for them... I love that everything is taken advantage of. But I thought there was an easier way to separate them and not just one by one...
Hi, should I give them to the kids with the peel on? I buy them peeled, that's why I'm asking. Isn't it too hard?
Let's not blame capitalism, which knows how to take advantage of people's laziness and ignorance, because roasting pumpkin seeds is not a science, nor does it take time. It's like the mother who buys grated bananas and apples in a jar for her baby, instead of grating a banana and mashing it with a fork. All it takes is a little common sense.
I'll skip the store-bought vegetable broth.
I haven't bought any in years!
I suppose salt, pepper, and spices can replace that industrially produced kind.
Very good genius
Paulina, it's a real pain to get the pumpkin threads out.
I've already made them!!!
Thanks, you've saved me so many times.
I wonder what the difference is between these and the green ones you get at the health food store, 100 bucks per 100 grams.
Big kiss!!!
I love reading you. I'm going to make a snack today. Thanks, comrade!
I've been wanting to use the seeds for a while now by making something healthy and delicious. Thanks, Commander Paulina!
I loved it! I'm going to try making them now. Excellent writing!
Excellent!!!! I made the same argument because I eat a lot of pumpkin and bought seeds... hahaha thanks for the recipe
Paulina, you're a genius! I discovered you a while ago and I follow your recipes and cooking tips.
Thank you so much.
I loved them, they are super delicious, they look like sunflower seeds, only with more flavor, highly recommended♡♡♡
And so they indoctrinate, even with a recipe... Where, in which country, has communism been successful until its final stage? Because every history in the world has proven to be a failure.
Where, in which country, have all the citizens that communism calls people, enjoyed such economic success?
The recipe is good, yes. But there are people who study, work, and don't have time to make this very good recipe, which is why they go to the supermarket made under capitalism.
Are they eaten whole with the “shell”?
Hello everyone! I just tried this recipe with Angola pumpkin seeds. They turned out delicious! Oh! And I agree with everything you said above. Revolutionary hug!
