Welcome to the community of Paulina Kitchen. Today I want to present the gofres. It is a baked mass that is cooked in a special machine (Gofrera), creating a crunchy texture on the outside and soft and spongy inside. They are usually made of a mixture of flour, eggs, milk or water, oil or butter and dry or fresh bakery yeast.
Gofres are a delicious alternative for breakfast, brunch or even as a special dessert after lunch or dinner . In addition to their own flavor, they are versatile and can be served with a wide variety of coverage: among many other options, fresh fruits, whipped cream, honey, arce syrup, peanut butter or chocolate.
In turn, they are very easy to make at home with a gofrera and a few basic ingredients and with the coverage or topings you choose. On this basis you can experience and customize them with your favorite ingredients to create a delicious.

Where are gofres famous?
They are popular in many parts of the world, but they are associated especially with the culture of Western and central European countries, such as Belgium, Holland, France and Germany. In Belgium, for example, they are a national specialty and can be found in almost any corner.
In Holland, they are known as "Stroopwafels" and are typically served in coffee shops along with coffee or tea. In France, they are known as "goufres" and are often served as dessert, especially in the northern region of the country. In Germany, they are popular especially in the Westfalia region, where they are known as "Westfälische Poffertjes" . In North America, they are called Waffles. In this video I share all my tips to make the best sweet and salty waffles!
About gofres
Belgian gofres are characterized by their fermented mass and the pearl sugar that they carry inside, although it is important to emphasize that it is not an essential ingredient for preparation. However, it gives an interesting crispy touch to the dough.
The element used to perform these gofres is called Gofrera and is formed by two folding thermal metal plates that have grid molds, usually metal. When they heater they give that shape to the dough and only in a few minutes the gofres will be ready to give them the special touch and enjoy them at breakfast or snack.
Different combinations of gofres
Gofres can be combined with a wide variety of sweet and salty ingredients . Among them are:
- Fresh fruits: they combine very well with strawberries, bananas, blueberries, raspberries, or kiwis.
- Chocolate : They are very rich when combined sauces based on this magic ingredient and that many like. You can also add chocolate chips to the dough before cooking them.
- Ice cream: For a dessert, gofres can be combined with a vanilla, cream, chocolate or taste you like.
- Honey and nuts: it is a simple but very rich and nutritious combination. You can add them chopped above.
- Mani butter or homemade milk : it is a classic combination that is always a success. Add on your gofres to serve a classical breakfast or snack.
If you like the salty options of gofres or waffles you can add cream cheese and smoked salmon. A TIP : You can also add a little dill for a surprise flavor.
Important: Do not add pearl sugar to the dough.
More gofres preparation options
In this case, I recommend using whole wheat flour instead of common flour and oil instead of butter. And if you can't eat foods with Tacc, I recommend you with the foresting of flours without Tacc.
It is also interesting to customize them with additional nutritional ingredients, such as fresh fruits, nuts, seeds, natural yogurt and other ingredients rich in fiber and protein.
In summary, healthy gofres are a more nutritious and balanced alternative to traditional gofres and are an excellent option for people who want to enjoy a delicious and nutritious breakfast or brunch.
