"Why didn't I try this before?"

About applesauce
I know you're probably thinking... applesauce? What else could be behind this? The last time you ate it, you were babies and were just starting to try some food. How noble! But don't underestimate it because it's an ingredient that can save any meal, turning it into a restaurant-quality dish.
Did you know? Applesauce is a healthy option that's highly recommended when we want to add a touch of sweetness, as an accompaniment to certain meats, especially pork, or if we want a delicious dessert. It's very easy to make, so follow the instructions below to make it perfect.
What to serve with applesauce
- Pork chops with apple: How can I tell you that you have to try cooking pork with applesauce as a side dish? Make the applesauce I teach you below and add it to your favorite chops.
- Apple compote : for this option we will add a little sugar along with the water and butter, this dessert will come out delicious.
- Yamaní Rice with Applesauce: This is a delicious and healthy way for your baby to incorporate cereal, vegetables, and fruit in one dish. Mix the rice and cooked broccoli with the applesauce.
- Apple Jam: This jam is very simple! You'll add half the weight of the apples in sugar (e.g., 40g of apple and 20g of sugar), along with the lemon juice. Heat, stirring constantly. This recipe doesn't use butter or water.
- Creamy pork loin with jam: just like the first recipe, they make the puree to go with the loin. It's crazy.
- Oatmeal and applesauce cookies: Make the puree and mix it with oats and honey or a little sweetener until smooth. Chill for half an hour, then bake.
- Apple Pie: Spread dulce de leche on a pie crust and top with applesauce. Decorate as you like and bake! A delicious snack in just two seconds.
- Grilled Chicken: You know what you have to do.
Believe me... with this applesauce recipe, you can make anything you want! It's also ideal as a meal or dessert for children (it's quite traditional in many hospitals). It's one of the best options to add to meats, all because some genius once thought of combining these flavors and it made our lives happy. Seriously, meats like this turn out incredibly tasty.
If you're a fan and enjoy these kinds of dishes with interesting flavors, I also recommend trying this recipe for Honey Pork Ribs —it's sooo good! Tip: Keep in mind that depending on the sweetness or acidity of the type of apple you choose, you may need to add more or less sugar to the applesauce.
I'll leave it all in your hands! Don't stop trying crazy ideas like this.
Applesauce Recipe
Ingredients
- 750 gr. of apples (3 or 2 large ones)
- 20 g of butter or olive oil
- ½ lemon
- Water
Optional ingredients:
- Sugar
- Salt
- Pepper
- Raisins
How to make applesauce step by step
- Cut away all the hard parts of the apple, such as the seeds and core. This will make it creamy. If you want, you can peel the apple; if not, that's fine. I like the taste of the peel, but it's optional.
- Chop the apples and place them in a bowl. Add the lemon juice and mix everything together to prevent the apples from oxidizing due to exposure to air.
- Once all the apples are peeled, cored, chopped, and well mixed with the lemon juice, pour everything into a deep pan/pot, add the butter (you can substitute it with olive oil) and a little water, just a little, since apples cook very well with steam.
- Place on the heat and cover. Cook over moderate heat for about 20 minutes.
- You can add salt (if you want a salty apple puree, to accompany meat or fish), pepper, meat broth (instead of water), etc.
- Stir, making sure the puree doesn't run out of water or broth. If necessary, add a little more liquid.
- When there are about 5 minutes left in the oven, remove the lid to allow the liquid to evaporate, leaving a creamy apple puree.
- Once the liquid has evaporated, blend with a hand blender or use a blender. If you don't have either, you can mash it with a fork. It won't be as creamy, but the flavor will be delicious.
- Once made, and depending on its intended use, you can decorate the apple puree with raisins, toasted sesame seeds, or anything else.
- Be creative! A success.
Hello Paulina??? Thank you so much for your recipes. They're all so easy to make with simple ingredients, and they're delicious.
Excellent recipe. I didn't add butter, but it turned out great. I had leftover apples I'd already cut for a pie. So I made it with that and incorporated the puree into the pie. Excellent!
Hello, what kind of apple do you use for the puree? And how many apples per person?
Hi Paulina, thanks for your recipes! I wanted to know if you can freeze applesauce. Thanks.
